In addition to anti-tank guns, mortars and hand-held weapons, the museum displays soldiers’ personal items, from portable cooking pots to felt boots. In the museum’s courtyard, you can admire Red Army howitzers and war debris found in the marsh and on the ground. Large quantities of uranium were needed, and so every opportunity was taken to make any progress in this area. In the big black box, you will find out why Sillamäe became a closed city during the Soviet era. You’ll also learn the secrets of the atomic world.

VR SMALL WHITE – Dystopia
In 1920, the writer Yevgeny Zamyatin completed his novel ‘We. The book is set in a totalitarian futuristic society called One State, whose leader, the Benefactor, offers his subjects a semblance of security and prosperity, but not freedom. All the inhabitants of the country have a number instead of a name. In a city where people have become numbers, everyone lives in strictly identical rooms with glass walls. Personal time is allowed for 2 hours a day. Everything is controlled and monitored. Come and take a virtual reality journey to One State and discover if this is dystopia or is this way of life already here?

You can also visit the permanent exhibition “Mysterious Sillamäe’ on your own.
Info >>

17:30 Departure from Sillamäe
17:50 Arrival in Toila
18:00–19:00 Toila Park. The lost glory of the Oru Palace and Park – a virtual-reality time travel experience VR Toila 1938

The lost glory of Oru Palace and Park – virtual reality time-travel experience VR Toila 1938

Starting location: The glass pavilion by the footpath between Toila High School and the Palace Square.

Organiser: VR History (MTÜ Eesti Õnnemuuseum)

When you arrive at Toila you can choose between two activities. You can go on a guided walk or watch a virtual reality installation at Oru Palace, which was the summer residence of the Estonian Head of State, President Konstantin Päts from 1935.

The palace was severely damaged after the June coup in 1940 and on 13 August 1941 retreating Red Army troops set fire to the palace, resulting in it being largely destroyed. The ruins, in which mines were stored, were blown up by German troops in 1944. What the palace looked like in 1938 can be seen with virtual reality headsets.

VR Tolia 1938 – Travel Back to 1938 and Experience the Lost Glory of Oru Palace and Park
Part I takes you on an introductory walk through Oru Park. You’ll begin your journey in the early hours of the morning by learning the stories of the construction and renovation of Oru Palace. Part II brings the palace’s main hall to life with its exquisite decor and provides insights into the life of Estonian President Konstantin Päts at Oru Palace.

In Part III, you will be able to freely explore the palace yourself.

19.30 Dinner at Toila Mereresto
*Meal selection is made during registration.
