The purpose of ESTO 2025 is to again bring together Estonian communities around the world, to strengthen the global Estonian spirit and sense of belonging to the Estonian land and people, to promote the mutual contact network of people who keep alive Estonianism (abroad) and to introduce the story of Narva and involve young people in it.
The ESTO tradition dates back to 1972, when Estonians in the West gathered in Toronto, Canada, to jointly preserve Estonian culture and traditions. The importance of ESTO lay in the critical need to preserve the Estonian language, culture and Estonianism during the Soviet occupation, when there was no opportunity to visit Estonia. The tradition of ESTO is just as important today, to maintain Estonianness and a sense of unity in the scattered Estonian population, both within the diaspora and in their relations with Estonia.
