End location: at the foot of Victoria Bastion on the Swedish Terrace

Organiser: Narva Museum

The tour is dedicated to the period 1581-1704, when the city of Narva was part of the Swedish Kingdom.

The “Golden Swedish Age” still captivates the minds of historians and scholars today. It was a time when Narva was known as a great trading city, and was fought over by the great powers of Europe. It was during the glorious Swedish period that Narva acquired its unique appearance and special atmosphere, which remained virtually unchanged until the end of the Second World War. What links Narva and Stockholm? Why did this period of history begin and how did it end? Let’s find out how the city developed, what events took place here and who were Narva’s most famous residents. We will walk along the streets of that time, look at the buildings that still stand today and try to imagine the city that disappeared.
