The violin ensemble is comprised of violin students from two schools – Tallinn Kanutiaia Hobby School and Rae Hobby School – who are taught by one teacher, Riina Lõhmus. This time, parents will also help out with singing, as learning to play an instrument requires significant cooperation within the home, and it is especially fun to make music together. Unfortunately, the whole ensemble could not travel to ESTO; this time we are represented by 10 violinists. Piia Maasikas accompanies us on the zither. The youngest member of the ensemble is Brita, aged 7, while the other young musicians are aged 9-14.

The repertoire includes a variety of violin folk tunes to introduce the folk music of Estonia and other countries. The ensemble has performed together at the Hiiu and Viru Folk Festivals and has taken part in Folk Music Festivals that accompany Song Festivals. It is a great pleasure to play in the violin orchestra of the Song and Dance Festival Folk Music Festival this summer. The songs learnt for this festival will also be performed at the concert in Eesti Maja, as will violin tunes from different parts of Estonia. Come to the concert and join in the singing and dancing!
