Dear ESTO2019 Performer!

The next ESTO, entitled “Our Future”, is less than a year away but there is still time for you, your friends and family, and your organization to make plans to be part of this special year, during which Estonia continues to celebrate its 100th anniversary, as well as, the 150th anniversary of the first Song Festival and the 20th Dance Festival. ESTO will occur during the week leading up to the National Song and Dance Festival from June 28th to July 3rd, 2019.

Over the years, ESTO’s have been organized enthusiastically, with many pitching in and working together collaboratively. Every performer, helper, contributor, supporter and previous experience is valued and will be of great help!

We ask that performers complete the registration form, and indicate where you are able to perform.

Approximate numbers and information are required now for planning, budgetary and funding purposes, as well as, for organizing transportation and accommodation. Understandably, exact figures may not be confirmed until the spring of 2019.

ESTO Opening Ceremony in Helsinki

The planned Opening Concert on June 28th at the Senate Square will require rehearsing together so singers, dancers and musicians will congregate the day before, June 27th, at the Alppila Church to practise and organize meals and sleeping arrangements. Afterwards there will be time for jamming and socializing. The next morning, rehearsals will continue at the Senate Square. The Opening Ceremony will begin at 13:30, Helsinki Cathedral, followed by the Opening Concert, Senate Square. The concert’s artistic director is Guido Ausmaa and the programme includes songs and dances accompanied by an orchestra.

ESTO Gala Party onboard M/S Silja Europa

Following the Opening Concert, busses will transport everyone to the Tallink harbour to board the M/S Silja Europa, where a formal dinner and cultural programme will take place during the trip to Tallinn that evening.

To attend the formal dinner or reserve an overnight cabin, an ESTO pass must be purchased.

Registered performers will receive a 50 Euro discount when purchasing ESTO Passes in any of the three categories. ESTO Pass Advance Sales will continue until the end of February . Performers, who have registered, can travel with special price from Tallinn to Helsinki and back to Tallinn on the Tallink Silja ship.

ESTO Song in Tartu

On June 29th, choirs and performers will be transported by bus or train to Tartu in the morning. Upon arrival students and youth should head straight for the Student Fair and Youth Congress at Tartu University, and everyone else can attend the Tartu City Days before congregating later in the afternoon for ESTO Song which begins at 18:00 in the Tartu Town Hall Square. Choirs will have a short rehearsal at 13:00. The programme will include songs from the Song Festival and past Esto’s.

Since the Dance Festival practices begin on Sunday June 30th in Tallinn, ESTO busses will transport dancers back to Tallinn the evening of June 29th, after the Secretpub. Other performers can travel to Tallinn on ESTO busses, July 1st in the morning.
To ensure free transportation, food and accommodation in Tartu can be organized for choirs participating in ESTO Song, pre-registration for ESTO Song is essential.
